1. ADVANTAGE HEALTHCARE INDIA 20151_advantage-health
Ministry of Commerce & Industry inaugurated an international summit on Medical Value Travel this year – Advantage Health Care India, 2015. It aimed at promoting exports of healthcare services from India with a purpose to reach out to different countries for collaborations and capacity building in the healthcare sector.

2. AMRIT:  DISCOUNTED PHARMACY OUTLET

Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) pharmacy outlet has been opened at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi to reduce the expenditure incurred on  heart and cancer patients by 50 – 60 percent.

3. CASHLESS TREATMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New India Assurance Company Limited on 21st September 2015 for providing an affordable health insurance – Swavlamban for the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

4. INDIA’S FIRST INDIGENIOUSLY DEVELOPED VACCINE

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched the first indigenously developed Rotavirus vaccine on 9th March 2015 named Rotavac to combat infant mortality due to diarrhea. The vaccine will be available at a price of 1 US dollar per dose making it the cheapest vaccine available for rotavirus globally.

5. INDIAN HEALTHCARE PORTAL

India’s Healthcare Portal – www.indiahealthcaretourism.com was inaugurated at the SAAARC Trade Mart on 24th April 2015. The portal is a comprehensive one-point information site, which covers hospital and travel-related information about India that can be used  effectively by any potential medical tourist across the globe.

6. NATIONAL HEALTH PROFILE 2015

JP Nadda released 11th edition of NHP in an E-book format which includes the health data from ESIC and Railways for the very first time this year. NHP 2015 indicates the significant progress that has been made in the country on various health outcomes, which is an encouraging signal.

7. TELEMEDICINE MADE AVAILABLE

A telemedicine initiative ‘Sehat’ was launched on 25th August 2015 to provide qualitative and affordable healthcare in rural areas in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals. Under the initiative people will be able to consult doctors online, through video links and be able to order generic drugs.

8. “Kayakalp”- an initiative for Award to improve cleanliness in Public Health Facilities

The Kayakalp Award Scheme is another of the Union Government initiatives to make India clean. Awards ranging from INR 50,000 to 50 lakh will be given to Public Health Facilities (District Hospital, Community Health Centers, Primary Health Centers, for keeping their premises clean, inculcating a basic sense of hygiene amongst those visiting them, good waste management systems and community participation in all these endeavors.

9. Himachal Pradesh became the first state to launch Rotavirus Vaccine

The Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country to adopt Rotavirus Vaccination Project that aims to control child mortality rate (under five years of age) due to diarrhoea. A part of Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP) and assisted by International Clinical Epidemiological network the project will help to fight the deadly Rotavirus.

10. EXPANDING THE SAFETY COVER

With the view to focus on preventing spread of HIV infection, the WHO removed restrictions on eligibility for antiretroviral therapy amongst people with HIV and other population groups with this, all populations and age groups will now be eligible for treatment. This will ensure the reduction in the risk of transmitting the virus to partners. This ‘treat all recommendation’ made in 2015 could help avert more than 21 million new infections by 2030.
