1. An App for Real Time Online Air Quality Information
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune has developed India’s first air quality checking and forecasting mobile application, SAFAR-Air (System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research). Instilling a sense of responsibility, it aims to involve the common man in controlling the menace of pollution. Already available in Pune, Mumbai and Delhi, the app will be soon extended to cover Kolkatta and Chennai.

2. An Easy Samwad between the Government and the Citizens
Social media giant, Twitter and Indian government have launched Twitter Samwad, a platform that bridges the communication gap between the government and the citizens. It allows people to give missed calls to select phone numbers and in return they will receive tweets as SMS from government offices, including PMO.
The service is powered by Twitter’s recent acquisition, ZipDial.

3. A Sonepat Village Gets India’s First Modernised Anganwadi Centre
Revamping the country’s 40-year-old children and women-oriented ICDS scheme, the central government inaugurated the country’s first modernised Anganwadi Centre (AWC) at Hasanpur village in Sonepat, Haryana. The integrated Anganwadi model ‘NandGhar’ will become a nucleus to provide smart education, mobile vans, health awareness and skill training in the village. Based on the concept of ‘Building as a Learning Aid’ piloted by UNICEF, the AWC aims to increase the children’s attendance.

4. App your rail now
A mobile ticketing application, available for both Windows and Android software was launched on 8th July, 2015 to help passengers book unreserved tickets easily. Covering 35 stations in Mumbai, the app provides necessary on-screen alerts to guide passengers during the booking process. Download Here.

5. Digital India Spreading its wings to Fly High
The research and development institute of the Department of Telecommunications has developed four broadband products – A long distance WiFi system, solar powered WiFi system, 100 Gbps optical fibre cable (OFC) link and C-DOT’s next generation network (NGN) in MTNL network to maximise efficiency of the Digital India initiative.

7. Gagan System
A “GPS- Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN)” system generating Navigation Services to departure, en-route and landing operations for suitably equipped aircrafts has been fully operational from May 2015 to provide very accurate and high level of integrity satellite signals for precise air navigation over the entire Indian airspace.

8. Microsoft’s Digital Maharashtra
Microsoft is to develop Smart MIDC (Microsoft India Development Centre) industrial colony, mobile application ‘SAFE MAHRASHTRA’ and a cyber security Centre at Pune to support India’s Digital Maharashtra. Along with providing technological support for health services in tribal areas of Maharashtra, Microsoft has also suggested solutions for Right to Service Act.

9. The Next big step in Aerodynamical Reasearch
A Micro Air Vehicle Aerodynamics Research Tunnel has been set up in CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) campus to address all the aerodynamic, propulsion and aero-elastic issues related to MAVs. This is the first attempt of its kind in the country which has given a boost to India’s National Programme on Micro Air Vehicles (NP-MICAV).

10. WHITE-FI to overshadow Wifi
Microsoft will increase internet access in the remote areas of India, by augmenting White-Fi capacity devices with a chip named “Pruthvi”, developed by Saankhya Labs Pvt. Ltd. The vicinity of the white space spectrum is 10 kms and can operate on solar power overcoming the hindrance of expensive installation.
