Now civilians can proudly display their message inbox filled with Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s messages on information regarding new policies undertaken. The information will be directly provided by the PM either via e-mail or SMS. These messages will generally provide information regarding new policies undertaken or will be on matters that are of national interest.

This initiative has been started under ‘Digital India’ which is a part e-Sampark that was launched last year. Now with this new initiative support from citizens and professionals is also strived for, so that citizens can contribute directly in making India a better place and the policies undertaken can secure 100% success rate. In order to make each and every citizen a part of this mission, e-Sampark has enlisted a total of 80 lakh e-mail addresses as well as approximately 1 crore mobile numbers belonging to central and state government officials. According to recent data, a total of 42 crore e-mails and SMS’s have been sent to the Prime Minister’s office till now.

Under this initiative, a crowd sourcing model has been designed in which citizens can sign in and start receiving alerts directly from the Prime Minister’s office. The problem that e-Sampark has encountered is that not every citizen is able to provide his/her contribution to digital India initiative. To overcome this shortcoming the Centre issued an order on 3rd December, 2015 requiring the citizens to provide feedback on various platforms so that efficiency of the policy implementation is upto the mark.

A stringent filter has been applied to the messages can be sent to the Prime Minister. In order to ensure that the messages are not vague and informal, e-Sampark ascertains that the messages or alerts sent are in National and Public Interest. A senior government official has informed that this initiative was started only with the intention that messages and alerts can be sent to the Prime Minister in case of emergency situations like cyclones or riots.
