HRD Minister Ms Smriti Irani announces a highly beneficial New Year gift for students pursuing higher education. Under the initiative started by e-Pathshala, Ms Smriti Irani has announced that 12,000 e-books will be made available on a mobile application.

Ms Smriti Irani announced this brilliant news while she was laying the foundation stone of girls’ hostel in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University. With the vision of making Indian Education System efficacious and accessible, NCERT books for classes 1-12th have already been formatted into e-books. Moreover, with higher education also getting its study material converted into e-books, Indian education system is altogether ready to get a new and improvised face.

Well, if you think that transforming books into e-content is the only sphere that the ministry is targeting then you are in for a treat. Ms. Smriti Irani has specifically mentioned that it will become mandatory for the higher education institutions to adopt 10 villages rather than 5 under the ministry’s ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’, which was an earlier prerogative. This scheme has also placed IIT’s, IIM’s and Central Universities within its purview. These reputed institutions will adopt village children who cannot access education.

These schemes and initiatives will work under strict vigilance. The institutions have to maintain academic record of every student coming under their scrutiny in terms of their participation. Apart from that, HRD Minister Ms Smriti Irani has also urged the students to contribute their bit by looking after one needy person after they have completed their education.

Really? Is this going to happen? I wonder why newspapers never cover them? All they talk about wars, rapes, crimes, terrorism etc. I wonder why these news are not covered that would make people believe in goodness also? Kudos girl.
