“Researchers discussed the advantages of VR for evaluating body image disturbances.”
Virtual Reality (VR) may be used to determine how people perceive their bodies, to treat body image disturbances and to improve adherence to physical activity among obese individuals. Virtual Reality provides influential viewing experience to the users. It allows an individual to enter scenarios that simulate real life situations and to encounter food cues known to trigger the individual’s eating behaviour.
“I am appreciative to the researchers and clinicians worldwide who are exploring innovative ways to utilise technology to provide more effective assessments and treatment methods to greater number of individuals,” said Brenda K. Wiederhold from Virtual Reality Medical Institute in Belgium.
Virtual Reality content makes people exercise more as they enjoy the simulated experience. Virtual Reality can also be used for distracting overweight people from listening to it while exercising. Virtual Reality offers promising new approaches to assess and treat weight-related disorders.
