As the world prepares to celebrate woman empowerment on occasion of Women’s Day on March 8th, Dr Manisha Lalchand Mahajan has transformed her Primary Health Care (PHC) into a digital centre without taking any help from the government. This digital platform for the PHC is called ‘Arogyadootam 2016’.
Dr. Mahajan got donations from the villagers, local MLA and pooled in her own money to procure this digital software, CCTV cameras, 24*7 wifi and advanced medical equipment for primary diagnosis and treatment and a well-equipped delivery room. The PHC provides easy access to healthcare for the residents of 13 villages.
“Taking cue from the Centre’s ‘Digital India’ initiative, I have digitised the PHC with advanced equipment of primary treatment and diagnosis for the benefits of villagers. The PHC has latest digital pulse onimeter, glucometer, apparatus to check blood pressure, thermometer, nebuliser, digital weight machine, etc.”, she said.
This digital PHC software ensures proper registration of patients at the Out Patients Department (OPD), complete digital record to pathology for health records of patients and online pharmacy browser for searching medicines. The software also gives alerts to mothers and parents for vaccination of children. The system also keeps real time tab on medical stocks, details section wise monthly reports and setting at targets cum reminders for doctors at PHC.
“The government should help create more digital PHC’s and improve our country’s status on international platform by giving best services in public health.” she said.
