A New Invention By College Students’ Surges The Hyper Local Market

Two college students from Coimbatore have revolutionalised the Hyper Local Market by developing a compact home automation module,  ‘Smitch’. It enables the consumers to become active participants in the drive to save electricity.

The startup Karsan Technologies Pvt Ltd (KTPL), is 8 months old and their product ‘Smitch’ is already making waves in India’s nascent home automation market. While the prices in this segment are still very high, ‘Smitch’ is claimed to be the most affordable. Depending on savings and comfort, the prices range between Rs 2,999 to Rs 13,499.

Mr. Sanathkumar, Chief Executive Officer of KTPL said, “The compact  Smitch module  can be placed comfortably behind  any existing switchboard and  does not require rewiring or  change in existing wiring.” Explaining its benefits, he said, “The product, with its interactive mobile app and on-board timers allows customers to control and schedule any home appliance. It also allows users to optimise energy consumption by 40 per cent by analysing and prompting change in usage patterns.”

Mr. Pragadheesh Raj, Chief Technical Officer of the company, said that the product would be launched in eight cities, including Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, with initial capacity of 6,000 pieces.
