India and Germany signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further promote their collaboration in the Wind Energy Sector. Robert Habeck, a Green Party Minister of Energy, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas from the State of Schleswig Holstein announced Germany’s willingness in sharing the technology to reduce the effect of green house gasses on the environment. The MOU was signed between the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturer’s Association and Messe Husum in Chennai on Monday, 17th October 2016.
“We have a responsibility to promote green energy in big markets like India. Through this agreement, it would be possible for companies to invest in offshore and onshore wind energy. India’s achievement in renewable energy is incredible and the MoU will lead to sharing of knowledge,” Habeck told TOI.
Both India and Germany realise the need to showcase the potential, innovation and strength of the Wind Energy Sector. The MOU also aims to explore and identify products through systematic market research, which can be manufactured in India at internationally competitive conditions in line with the “Make In India” concept.
The future of Wind Energy in India surely looks bright. One of the biggest advantages with Wind Energy is that it doesn’t require any fuel and it doesn’t produce any Carbon Dioxide. It’s cost effective as compared to other forms of renewable energy and does not consume any amount of water. Not to mention that Wind Energy can provide a lot of rural employment.
