Demonetization of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes on one hand is creating a lot of chaos in the general public but on the other hand, the move by the Prime Minister is also inspiring some people. A 43 years old tea seller from Pune moved away from conventional cash payment to accepting payment through an e-wallet. Laxman Kachi has gone digital in order to continue providing his tea peacefully in the time of severe cash crunch.
He said, it was extremely difficult for the customers to find change and pay for the tea. This resulted in a considerable drop in his daily business. But then, one of his customers told him about the e-wallet service. The customer in fact helped him download the application. As most of Kachi’s customers are tech savvy he faces no problem in getting paid through the digital medium.
Kachi’s sales once again have gone up and he is able to successfully run his small business. He supports the Prime Minister’s initiative of demonetizing the bigger currency notes in the wake of ending corruption and un-accounted money.
Demonization of bigger currency and the cash crunch situation will result more people taking digital route for payment. This will definitely bring more transparency even in smaller transitions. With the Prime Minister seeking 50 more days from the general masses to normalize the situation, Kachi’s story undeniably provides some silver lining.
