This Railways Cop also Teaches The Rag Pickers in District Gaya

Mr. Praveen Kumar is a railways cop. Apart from performing his regular duties he has taken to teaching the rag pickers at Gaya Railway Station. Platform number 1 at Gaya Railway Station looks like a street school, where rag pickers who otherwise had no exposure to formal education are getting taught ka, ‘kah, ‘g’ and ‘A’ ‘B’ ‘C.

The entire initiative is brought together by Gaya Railway Police Officers. Children who were picking scrap along the railway tracks or from the slums around the railway tracks have been engaged by the Railway Police. Encouraged by the large turnout of children a policeman is deputed by the officers to teach them regularly.

Praveen empathized that there was no one teaching the children especially since they belong to the lower strata of the society and since they were engaged in rag picking. His seniors understood the cause and acted on it. He mentioned that he was directed to teach the children. District Superintendent of Police and Inspectors are also doing their bit to take the cause ahead.

There is always an undercurrent of fear in the common man when Police comes into the picture. But initiatives like these not only eradicate the fear but also inspire the general masses.  A number of children on the platform did mention that they will love to join the police services when they grow up.

I recently had the good fortune of reading this article It is well-written and quiet thought provoking, honestly.
I mean, we see so much of negative Side of Life in the media that it is refreshing to have a positive upbeat report on the good things that are happening.
    Quite inspiring actually…
“A cop teaching kids on the platform” and hats off to the superiors to give direction and support to this productive momentum.I think this report is a great motivator for many who can & need a little push. The schools at such locations are doing a good job, but with limited resources and they appreciate all the help we can get them.
Thank you Praveen, keep up the good work.

Looking forward to read more of your uplifting and informative coverage Miss Maithili Redkar.
